AI in Ops Without the Mess

A “Safe Use” Policy for Small Businesses + Nonprofits

AI tools are already part of how your team works. Someone is using them to draft a grant narrative, clean up a policy, brainstorm a training outline, or summarize meeting notes. Most of the time, that is a good thing. AI can save real hours for small teams that never have enough of them.

The problem is not that people want to use AI. The problem is that many teams are using it without a shared standard for what is allowed, what is off limits, and who checks the work before it leaves the building.

Board Packet Template: Turning “Operational Chaos” into 3 Pages of Clarity

Chaos to clarity board packet graphicBoard members want to be helpful.

I like to start there because it keeps the conversation generous. When a board meeting runs long, when questions repeat, or when decisions keep getting moved to the next meeting, it does not always mean people are disengaged. Often, it means the information was hard to sort through, the decision was not clear enough, or the most important context was buried.

A board packet should make it easier for board members to show up prepared. It should not be a record of everything staff did that month. It should not be a long file of updates that asks people to guess what matters most.
